Rarely do we touch on security in our daily reviews, but since we’ve already dropped an outdoor Waterproof IR IP Camera FI8904W Security System on our shelves, and certainly with such sophistication – not nearly adequate time to have it through its paces (stay tuned for more similar reviews though, that we promise). Since it got featured, it has taken us 24hrs under its piercing look, scared to scratch incorrectly lest that activity be recorded eternally onto the cold, unforgiving memory of network-attached storage. Meanwhile, we found the thought of living with Alert to be usually entertaining, sometimes annoying, and rarely alarming. How so? Read on…
The Waterproof IR IP Camera FI8904W, however, is an incredibly unusual creature, looking fairly more like a security camera and, sitting on metal construction, feeling sturdy and weatherproof. This model includes night vision to the mix with capacity too see IR and enhanced by a pair of IR emitters – which on a completely dark night, bestows an effective range of approximately 30 feet. Nonetheless, with a little bit of moonlight or tiny streetlight blew, that range is far extended. The waterproof camera provides quality footage through their wide lenses, and way better compared to your usual VGA security cam. Although, stationary, you just need to know where to mount it.
Mounting up the camera is a simple process. Each camera would accompany a HomePlug adapter which is connected to through a thin Ethernet cable, which provides connectivity and power. Plug the camera into an outlet, mount it on the wall where you’d like it to be, and then have the other HomePlug adapter plugged into your network router. This works as the receiver, offering the camera’s access with PCs on your network and certainly with the internet in general. (Close to six cameras can be linked in a single time.) Generally, this is a satisfactory package, out of the box quickly and, in a few minutes, will be watching over Fluffy and Snookums romp about merrily. Similarly, if you’ll be positioning this at a metropolis or static area where you’d want to nab anything that moves, you’ll definitely get good results.
