Archos’ Arnova 8b G2 slate raises hope for penny-pinching tablet buffs (update: hands-on photos!)
TweetFor those who’d rather have it on the budget, Archos has something for you! The new Arnova 8b G2 tablet adds more juice to Arnova’s line of low-cost tablets. So, not necessarily a tenderfoot for those who didn’t know – actually, having already handed us the 9 and 10 G2s, its outfit’s latest addition is basically dubbed 8b G2, glorifying its 8-inch touchscreen, the crisp 800 x 600 pixel in 4:3 ratio and TFT display. Emerging with what many would deem “last year’s specs”, the tablet sports a super fast 1 GHz processor (Arnova says, “it plays HD videos and in Full HD 1080p quality”), 512MB of RAM, microSD slot expansion(4 or 8GB included), a front-facing camera, and a surprisingly moldy slice of Gingerbread. Most likely the cost will place it at plus – Archos just decided to keep us guessing on the figures, but if its forerunner is giving any hints, we see you parting ways with something slightly above 200 bucks.
