Blue Devils’ W13 gets pitched for some more close-up photography
TweetThe Blue Devils’ W13 isn’t closely what you’d call a barn-burner. The 1GHz AMLogic chip inside could possibly hand the tablet some basic web surfing and not really a heavy duty app doer; but even the Blue Devils reps couldn’t agree more, its what we would like to call a ” serious e-reader”, being more of a challenger to the Barnes & Noble’s Nook Color but no close to the iPad. In our pithy hands-on, the little chap surprisingly accommodates Ice Cream Sandwich – at least something here worth throbbing fingers on the table for. While we can’t confirm the 8-inch 1024 x 768 resolution flat-panel’s responsiveness – something tells us it could be fairly smooth given the ICS on board.
We also agree, it’s obviously bulky (see the slide gallery above) and surprisingly, we are told its light in the hand. Sure, it saves costly ounces by doing an all round plastic build, with a relatively rich interface, and yet hardly appears cheap or substandard (yes, the usual soft front keys are easily noticeable). Blue Devils W13’s left-hand edge is home to a microSD expansion slot – expandable up to 8GB of internal storage, while at the top of tablet you’ll find mini USB port, and mini HMDI for siphoning out 1080p video. Since pricing and availability details are on the way, we expect a budget-friendly slate. In the meantime, enjoy the bevy of photos above including some full hands-on review after official release.
