Chinese Tech Giant, Alibaba to Unveil its New Smartphone…
Chinese online retail kingpin Alibaba Group is reportedly planning to launch its own smartphone brand in the third quarter. The Alibaba smartphone will be made by Chinese mobile handset vendor K-Touch and will be launched officially perharps by the end of this Month.
Certainly, Alibaba is not the only key internet service provider interested in the smart phone market. More players are likely to jump in. According to the grapevine, Baidu – another Chinese web services company will launch an Android-based Mobile Operating System dubbed Qiushi (which signifies fruits in autumn) before the year comes to a close. There’s also a rumor that Xiaomi Tech plans to unveil its own smartphone with its customized Android UI identified as MIUI.
Amazingly enough, the mobile phone will run Android 2.2.1 (FroYo) rather than the current Gingerbread (2.3) Operating System. The handset will feature Nvidia Tegra 2 Duo-core processer, with an estimated price range of RMB 2800 to 3000 yuan. The customized android phone will also accompany some of Alibaba services, attributes such as Cloud- based storage, cloud-based search, AliBrowser, Mobile Wangwang (an Alibaba’s style to instant messaging) and several other great features. To add more icing in the cake, Alibaba provides its entire mobile phone customers close to 500 G of free storage space.
