ViewSonic ViewPad VB100a hands-on (photo)

Assuming you’ve already heard of the ViewSonic VB737 or perhaps the E100 and P100 collection, ViewSonic is throwing a new 10.1 incher for you thirsty onlookers. Identified as the ViewSonic VB100a, it’ll most likely hit the stores early next month and is head-on meant for the budget conscious consumers. Build-wise, it would be difficult to confirm anything at this point, as the slab features a downright juicy 10.1-inch IPS display (roughly 1280 × 800 pixels) with brilliant viewing angles, a svelte 9.1mm profile, ships with Ice Cream Sandwich, DDR3 1GB RAM and a 1.5GHz high-performance CPU.

Unfortunately, good news seems to end there. Rather than going confident on a dual core, it does it shy on a single core but averagely sports similar futuristic attempts seen on high-end dual cores. That is, support for external 3G dongle, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and Ethernet, 2160P video playback, dual-camera, USB –HOST/OTG interface and HDMI HD output. While considering that IPS display and Android 4.0 onboard, we don’t think employing the slab hands on would be a choppy endeavor, maybe if ViewSonic folks wants to surprise us. Or perhaps most regrettable, this sweat suggests that ViewSonic indeed can produce a superb slate. Instead, the ViewPad B100a will only feel like a half-hearted effort if the unspecified cost won’t add up.
